Vancouver Stylist Wins American Crew U.S. All-Star Challenge

American Crew has named Alyssa Brasket from The Barbers in Vancouver, Wash. the 2014-2015 U.S. All-Star Challenge Winner. The All-Star Challenge is an annual global competition that celebrates stylists from around the world and challenges them to create styles that are modern, expressive and embody the vision of the American Crew man. Brasket has been a key player in Vancouver's grooming space for the past nine years and is recognized for her ability to create classic looks with a trendy edge. Drawing inspiration from classic style icons of the past, she paired timeless length with a modern flare for her winning look.

Brasket started doing her friends' hair for high school events, and quickly knew it was the career path for her. Her early years after beauty school spent working as a stylist and makeup artist, prepared her to land a gig styling hair for Fashion NXT Portland – a fashion show featuring Project Runway winner Seth Aaron.

"I love working as a stylist at The Barbers in Vancouver, WA, because I'm able to grow as a stylist and educator," Brasket remarked. "I hope to rise up the ranks at The Barbers and one day become an artistic director or educator."

Entrants cut and styled a male model with American Crew products and submitted photos to a judging panel of industry experts who selected the winner based on technique, styling and individual inspiration for a modern, masculine look. The 2014-2015 U.S. All Star Challenge judging panel consisted of: American Crew Artistic Director Paul Wilson; Men's Fitness Style and Grooming Editor Barret Wertz; MaleStandard.com Co-Founder Victor Macias.

Brasket was announced the 2014-2015 American Crew U.S. All-Star Challenge Winner at the International Salon and Spa Expo Long Beach on Sunday, January 25th.

The All-Star Challenge recognizes the best stylists in the world, and offers them the opportunity to be highlighted for their talent and dedication to the craft. Previous country finalists have doubled their male clientele in salon and increased product sales after participating.

Brasket won a $5,000 monetary prize, recognition in a 2015 professional salon magazine advertisement and inclusion in the 2016 American Crew Style Selector, a compilation of the Brand's annual cut/style collection. She will also represent the United States as one of 15 finalists chosen to compete in the global 2014-2015 American Crew All-Star Challenge held in Europe, April 2015.

"With American Crew it's possible to push the envelope, while still keeping it classy. I love the approach of creating timeless looks guys can replicate at home," Brasket shared.

Summarizing her experience with the American Crew All-Star Challenge, Brasket exclaims, "I started out cutting hair in my friend's garage, and thanks to the Challenge, I will now have the opportunity to style hair for a photo shoot at Milk Studios. It's a dream come true! "
