NH2 salon in Novato California has partnered with non-profit Matter of Trust to help contain the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Matter of Trust collects hair snippings from salons nationally. Clean hair (free from oils) is wound into nylon stockings called "booms" that are used to soak up oil spills. A boom will absorb one quart of oil in a minute. read more>
