Cutter Named President of National Scissor Sharpeners Guild

Nick CutterNick Cutter of Edgemaster USA, a Southern California based haircutting scissor sales and sharpening company, has been named President of the National Scissor Sharpeners Guild (NSSG) for the second year in a row.  The NSSG is the longest-standing association (over 20 years) in the United States for educating and board certifying sharpeners of professional haircutting scissors. It sets the standard and qualifies sharpeners to be knowledgeable and skilled in their profession much like each state board works for licensing Cosmetologists.

Cutter is a Grand Master Sharpener and has been involved with the NSSG since 1994 as a certified judge and authorized hands-on trainer. As President, he is responsible for assembling educators, presenters and judges for testing and certification for the annual NSSG Conference. The intense four-day event is designed to train attendees to restore worn and damaged shears to their original brilliance. A select group of industry professionals teach specialized techniques specifically for today’s high tech cutting tools. Participants must pass a rigorous series of tests in order to become board certified and eventually earn the coveted title of Master Sharpener. As a result, haircutting professionals throughout the country benefit with a reliable source of qualified sharpening experts.

When asked about his appointment, Cutter proudly stated, “I feel honored to once again be named President of the NSSG, a very worthy and respected organization. I look forward to continuing the very high standard of professionalism and ethics, offering intense training and board certification to haircutting scissor sharpeners nationwide. I’m proud to do my part to make the industry stronger and to offer the very best set of skills for the benefit of salon professionals throughout the country. My greatest challenge is to get the word out to haircutters that they never have to suffer a bad sharpening job again. The NSSG is their resource for qualified board certified sharpeners.”

Cutter is a second-generation sharpener who runs a successful sales and sharpening business along with his daughter, Nicki. He is also known in the salon industry for designing and developing professional cutting tools. He created the ARC scissors for Paul Mitchell's Robert Cromeans, the Top Blade scissors for Adam Shuman of Farouk Systems and a complete scissor line for ENJOY Hair Care.
