WWW.OHIOSTYLIST.COM Retailing Tips for the Holiday Season

Preparing now for the holidays will

guarantee you the most successful season. Lind-

say Rice, the Keune True Business Facilitator for

Keune Haircosmetics North America, claims these

strategies have helped her sell $50,000 in retail

products every year.

Display your holiday

products beautifully

starting now.

The ear-

lier guests can see your

products, the more they’ll

purchase between now

and the holidays. “I love nesting tables,” Rice said,

“I use lots of glitter, ribbon, lights -- anything that

shines! The key is to make any promotion highly

visible and accessible to everyone.” She is the

owner of the Lindsay Meredith Salon in Liber-

tyville, Illinois.

Pack your shelves

. Guests buy more when

they are presented with lots of options. Everyone

loves a Buy-One-Get-One or Gift-With-Purchase

promotion for gift-giving and for themselves.

Keune has some options this season across its

Care, BLEND, Design and So Pure lines at a variety

of price points.

Share a personal message.

“It’s important

to communicate you aren’t just offering guests

something free; you’re giving the product to

them because you value them as guests,” Rice ex-

plained. “For example, if I’m offering a Buy Three

Get One Free promotion, I create signage that

says, ‘Because I value you as my guest, I wanted to

give you this complimentary

product.’ Same goes for the

samples.”

Create value for liter

sales.

Display liters at eye-

level to sell. Calculate the

price of the liter -- usually one

liter equals three to five bottles of the retail size of

product at a discounted price. Do the math, then

create signage to educate guests about the sav-

ings. Don’t make it complicated and use percent-

ages. Show the savings in dollars.

Use holiday sampling to create referrals.

Make samples plentiful. Create a cute display

for samples and invite guests to take one as a

value-add. Rice suggests, “For the holiday, buy

clear cellophane bags in gold and silver; tie in

samples anyone can use with your business card

and referral cards; then tie them with a bow and

give them to guests.”When clients bring in a new

guest, they both receive $20 off a hair design.
