The Department of Licensing is pleased to announce that we are working with a new vendor to give the written and practical examinations for the cosmetology professions. Our new process will include an online system for schools to register their students and report their monthly hours to the Department of Licensing.
The transition period for examinations is underway. All schools have been given access to the website to register their students and report their monthly hours. All schools should have had their student rosters updated by July 31, 2010. Schools will begin reporting their monthly hours for students through this system beginning with the hours earned for August 2010.
The new examination vendor, Ergometrics, will be offering examinations beginning October 1, 2010. Schools can begin scheduling students for the examinations any time after the student has completed all of the hours in the program they are studying. The last week of testing for the practical examination by DL Roope will be in Fife the week of September 27th.
Once a school has referred a student for testing, the student will have their own unique log on and password to schedule and pay for the examination. Once the student has passed both examinations and completed their hours, they can submit payment for their license online.
If you have any questions about the new examination processes please contact the Department of Licensing or Ergometrics directly through the www.cosmetologywashington.com website.
You can be a part of this process by completing an online survey to help our vendors develop the content of the examinations. Information about the survey is found at the www.cosmetologywashington.com website.
We are looking forward to this new process and we’ll keep you updated as we move forward!
