Esthetics is the practice of giving facials, applying makeup, eyelash application, hair removal (by tweezing or waxing), and providing skin care. It also includes beautifying the face, neck, arms, or upper part of the human body (from the shoulders and up) by use of cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, or creams.
California licenses estheticians and requires them to work only in state-licensed salons with a valid esthetician license posted at all times.
With the current trend of eyebrow and eyelashes services, it’s important to understand which services can be performed by an esthetician. Estheticians cannot perform any coloring or tinting of eyelashes or eye brows. Some other services that estheticians cannot provide are: Skin Piercing, Laser Treatments, Administration of Medication(s) for any reason, Removal of Moles, Skin Tags, etc.
